This page is great to help young children keep track of the activities they have completed for Daily 5.  It is simple and easy to use for kids and helps them plan and organize their classroom activities.

1. I print enough copies for the entire class in color.
2. I then put the reference page into a heavy duty sheet protector that goes into a durable, plastic folder for each child...
3. The kids use dry erase markers to check off (and keep track of) the stations that they have visited that week.  And it gets even better!
4. I keep the folders with the reference page for next year's class! You won't catch me wasting paper and colored toner!

I then put the reference page into a heavy duty sheet protector that goes into a durable, plastic folder for each child. I can walk around and see how kids have rated themselves and even conference with them about their activities. Then, they can be wiped off and ready to use the next day.

I keep the folders with the reference page for next year's class. Really cuts down on wasted paper and toner.

This collection of writing paper is a direct result of 2nd grade reluctant writers. I am a former kindergarten and 1st grade teacher, and would have been against the very thing I am suggesting . . .

Let children choose a preprinted paper to spark their imaginations.

• The first thing I do is print a copy of each page for the kids to look at and put it in a sheet protector that I keep in a 3-ring binder. . .
•  the kiddos choose one they are interested in, and then tell a friend a story about it. I find that after they have verbalized the story, it is much easier for them to write it down. They may also ask friends for ideas to get those creative juices flowing. . .
• and the process begins. They look at my copy as they create the sloppy copy, edit, and revise with other students and an adult . . .
• Then they are ready to make the final draft on their awesome paper! 
• Each child has a 3-ring binder in which all of their stories are kept . 
• . . I find that these picture pages really get the kids going . . . Especially at the beginning of the year. As they become more confident writers, they become more willing to create their own drawings to go with their writings.
